Our History

Marton Activity Centre (“The MAC”) was established as a before and after school child care centre in 1993, providing quality care for 5-12 year olds. The Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that is governed by a volunteer committee comprised of parents and managed by a Coordinator.

Operating Hours

The Centre is open during school term time only and is located on site at Marton Public School, 107 Kingswood Road, Engadine. Operating hours are:

  • 7:00am - 9:00am
  • 2:30pm - 6:00pm

Pupil-free Days are the first day of Term 1, 2 and 3 and the final two days of term 4.

Parking

Parents are not permitted to park within the school grounds at any time. Prior to 8:00am and after 3:30pm, parking is permitted in the kiss-and-drop zone in the street in front of the school office. At all times, please observe the sign-posted parking restrictions.

Refreshments

Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 7:00am to 8:00am. Toast and ceral are avilable every day. We do a special breakfast (not every day) consisting of either yoghurt, baked beans, spaghetti, pancakes and more.

Afternoon Tea

A nutritious and healthy afternoon tea is served daily from 3:05pm to 3:25pm. The menu is displayed at the Centre so the children can see what is on offer. It is intended to be a snack, not a meal and children can choose what they want to eat.

Children can eat something from their lunch box during this time, as long as it is healthy. Water is served and children have access to water throughout the morning and afternoon sessions.

A fruit and vegetable platter is served daily and it has a variety of fruits and vegetables. These include:

  • Apple
  • Orange
  • Rockmelon
  • Pineapple
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Watermelon
  • Grapes
  • Banana
  • Carrot
  • Cucumber

A selection of the following items are also served:

  • Sandwiches where children choose their fillings
  • Raisin bread
  • Pasta and sauce
  • Tuna and rice
  • Bread roll with salad and meat
  • Wraps
  • Crackers, cheese and dip
  • Rice crackers and spreads
  • Yoghurt and fruit
  • Salad cups
  • Pikelets
  • Hot Dogs

Sometimes light vanilla ice cream and Milo or fruit juice ice blocks are served as treats.

A light snack is served at 4:30pm if children are hungry.

N.B. Marton Activity Centre is NUT FREE — no nut products are served or consumed.

Clothing

It is important that all school uniform items are named. Children often leave their hats and jumpers behind and these are placed in the lost property basket, which is kept in the cupboard adjacent to the sign in and out area.

Sun Safe

All children are required to wear a hat at the Centre. The school rules apply which mean that if a child does not have their hat, they will have to play under shelter while outside. NO HAT, NO PLAY!
