Educational Program Overview

The New Quality Framework acknowledges that when children play, learning takes place. The play spaces at Marton Activity Centre are rich learning environments. Through play, we provide a range of experiences that are all learning opportunities and they are fundamentally important to the development of children.

By providing a range of educational, supervised activities, we give our children opportunities to express themselves and make their own choices. Children are involved in the planning by way of regular surveys and suggestion boxes where we gather their input and aim to make it part of the educational programme. We believe that Children Learn Through Play.

Before and After School care enables children to interact with other children of different ages from age 5 to 12. This provides a different dynamic that is experienced during the school day in a classroom with a cohort of the same age. Children are able to:

  • Assume leadership roles
  • Learn to relate to older or younger children especially children that may not have older or younger siblings
  • Experience a range of activities suitable for all age groups from 5 to 12 years, without restrictions
  • Have freedom of choice to play with children at different year levels.

The educational programme at MAC is designed to offer the children experiences that allow them to enjoy their leisure time either before or after school, while introducing them to educational concepts through play.

Our programme is developed in such a way that it encompasses the children's interests, suggestions, topical interests and the "My Time, Our Place" outcomes:

  • Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity
  • Outcome 2: Children are connected with &contribute to their world
  • Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of well being
  • Outcome 4: Children are involved and confident learners
  • Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators
